Thesis Disputation: “The Redemption of Thinking: A Study in Truth, Knowledge, and the Evolution of Consciousness with Special Reference to Goethe, Barfield, & Steiner”

New tidings: I successfully defended the dissertation yesterday and CIIS has kindly provided me with a video recording of the proceedings, which I offer below to anyone who has interest:

Brief tidings of this slated defense, by me, of a dissertation titled The Redemption of Thinking. It is a “sub-Corona” defense. That is to say that the disputation has been shunted to the internet, like all other public gatherings under the shadow of the Crown. “1:30 PM” means “1:30 PM Pacific Time,” which is seven hours after Greenwich Mean during Daylight Savings.* I am in Alaska so it is 12:30, thus transposed. If my calculations are incorrect, then please forgive me but formost pity me because I will be absent for my own defense. One would hope that a doctoral candidate could perform simple arithmetic functions, and maybe he can, but it is a doctorate in Philosophy after all, and moreover we find ourselves in strange times. In any case, anyone with interest is invited to attend, and it is possible that a recording of the proceedings will be available after the fact.

*I actually got this wrong first by neglecting the Daylight Savings correction and someone kindly pointed this out to me. That is why it says “One would hope that a doctoral candidate could perform simple arithmetic functions, and MAYBE he can, but it is a doctorate in Philosophy after all, and moreover we find ourselves in strange times.”

  2. “Strange times,” indeed…when “correct” means … something having to do with Daylight Savings Time?

    Huh?!

Whatever. Academia has long since lost it, afik.

I guess if I can’t get it right I can’t get it wrong either
